Caterham Cougars travelled to Hendon Rugby Club at the weekend for a season opening match against Camden.

A threadbare squad of just 9 players and no specialist goalkeeper made the collective decision to play without a standing goalkeeper. It may seem odd but the players decided to ensure they could match the opposition player for player in the outfield and try to keep Camden away from goal as much as possible.

In a fascinating game on a hard pitch the Cougars players ran, hassled and challenged for every ball.

Incredibly the team came away with a 12 -12 draw. A truly brilliant result and gets us off the mark.
